Iran nuclear talks

The talks between Iran and US are still set to focus on Iran's nuclear program and capabilities, NYT noted, citing three Iranian officials and one Arab official.

Abbas Araghchi told CNN that miscalculations could trigger war with the US, while insisting Iran remains open to a deal on nuclear weapons.

"We are open for business. They know our number if they want to get in touch with us," the official said, regarding the Islamic Republic's regime and negotiations over a potential deal.

Saudi Arabia's growing political weight and deepening security ties with Washington endow Riyadh with leverage few others in the Middle East possess.

The agreement comes against the backdrop of the European powers having activated the process to "snap back" international sanctions against Iran on August 29.

The E3 offered to delay reinstating sanctions - known as snapback - for up to six months if Iran adresses concerns about its nuclear program.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for Arab nations to cut relations with Israel in support of Gaza during an interview with the Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.

"They want Iran to be obedient to America. The Iranian nation will stand with all of its power against those who have such erroneous expectations," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reported as saying.

Sources told The Jerusalem Post that Trump said that Iran was still welcome at the table, but that the US would not convince them to negotiate.

"I hope [the war] is over," Trump said at a dinner held in attendance with US and Israeli leaders such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
