The widow of one of 18 US servicemen killed since the start of the war with Iran will receive partial payment after she was initially denied combat-related benefits.

“We would like to thank the people of Thailand for their incredible hospitality,” US Navy Captain Dan Keeler, the Abraham Lincoln’s commanding officer, said in a statement.

The disclosures highlight a growing national security concern: that location data collected by the advertising industry and sold by data brokers can be used to track and target military personnel.

According to the email, sent on August 7, military leaders were instructed to refer to the conflict as "overseas operations in the CENTCOM AOR [US Central Command Area of Responsibility]."

"We're investigating it because obviously we care. We want to know," Vance told reporters during a White House press briefing.

The USS Abraham Lincoln was involved in the US naval blockade and combat operations in the war with Iran and set a modern-day record for consecutive days at sea.

The strikes mark the first time in recent weeks that the US has launched direct retaliatory strikes on Iranian ships in the strait, rather than preventing them from violating CENTCOM's blockade.

In a letter to US Senator Elissa Slotkin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine said election administration and security remain the responsibility of state and local officials.

The records further showed that several of the retired officers are employed in the office of Defense Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness Anthony Tata.

Some officials described the situation as “beyond critical,” with arms moved to the Middle East from stockpiles in Europe and Asia creating shortages that could take years to replenish.
