Whether seen as a statement of exclusive loyalty, divine unity, or cosmic uniqueness, the “Shema” serves as a window into the diversity of Jewish monotheistic expression.

Antisemites do not distinguish between Jews recognized by Orthodox Halacha, liberal denominations, or even apostates. Their hatred is blind to these categories.

In public discourse, instead of listening, we attack. Instead of seeing the other as someone who wants good for this country, we label them an enemy; instead of seeking to understand, we hate.

It’s a revival of David Ben-Gurion’s dream of “conquering the desert,” though updated within the parameters of the latest technological, environmental, and sociological developments.

Perhaps what matters most is our ability to discern these quiet signs of hope amid the cacophony of conflict—and not forget them when the noise eventually subsides.

We all win when we learn to appreciate the importance of others.

If we are a nation that sees itself as a family, let us remember those families that have carried such a heavy burden throughout this war.

As we remove the hametz from our homes, let’s try to remove the hate from our hearts.

The stories we tell ourselves define our reality – especially in turbulent times, when a clear narrative can be the difference between confusion and clarity, between despair and resilience.

The polarization must end, realistic leadership is required, and the president of Israel can be the catalyst for change.
