As the October 7 massacre so painfully illustrated, sometimes the price of inaction is greater than the risk of action.

After descending a set of ancient stairs from the surface, archaeologists found themselves standing at the hewn opening of the tunnel, found to be filled with hundreds of years of ancient sewage.

Dozens of explosive devices and anti-tank missiles were located in the tunnel, with several weapons storage facilities additionally located in the area around the tunnel.

Soldiers found weapons and several rooms inside the underground complex that were used for Hezbollah’s operational management. 

The total length of the destroyed tunnel routes was approximately 800 meters, with the structures including living quarters and weapons.

Official Syrian sources told The Media Line that army units, during sweeping security operations in border areas, uncovered two tunnels stretching between Syrian and Lebanese territory.

The IDF also stated that Hezbollah prevents Christian civilians from fleeing combat zones and "has even fired at them" in the past.

One of the Hamas tunnels was approximately one kilometer long, the IDF said, and it contained several living quarters as well as explosive devices. 

The IDF's operation to dismantle Hamas tunnels in Gaza has damaged a Commonwealth military cemetery, raising concerns about the preservation of war graves and the handling of sensitive sites.

In a statement, the IDF said the operative’s activity violated the ceasefire framework and posed a threat to Israel’s northern communities.
