The bill seeks to promote a new investigative framework that diverges from the traditional independent state commission of inquiry mechanism overseen by the Supreme Court.

JPPI initiative argues that the scope of investigation - not the identity of members - will determine whether Israel confronts the root causes of the October 7 failures.

Former defense minister Yoav Gallant responded also the newly published documents in a post on X, accusing the prime minister of lying about the activities of the defense establishment.

The documents, spanning from February 2023 to an hour before attack, show how Israel's defense echelon misread Hamas’s intentions, and characterized the terror group as deterred.

Isaac Amit wrote that, given the petitions center on the application of the State Commissions of Inquiry Law, he believed it was inappropriate for him to continue making decisions.
