Lindsay Clancy, 36, strangled her three children with exercise bands in January 2023 in the basement of their home before cutting herself with a knife and jumping from a second-story window.

The Knesset told the High Court that lower professional standards among Supreme Court appointees could be justified by greater public trust and a more diverse judiciary.

The dispute comes after a succession of increasingly forceful High Court judgments on inequality in military service and the government’s failure to enforce the existing draft law.

The arrest was carried out as part of the investigation into the wave of grenade attacks, arson, and shootings that has hit central and northern Israel in recent days.

Arbel authored the principal opinion in the High Court’s 2013 ruling that struck down a 2012 amendment to the Prevention of Infiltration Law.

Anwar-ul-Haq, the girl’s father, told police that gunmen fired on her. However, police found that ul-Haq, a naturalized US citizen, has organized the killing with his brother-in-law.

Judge David Wecht said in a statement that he believed antisemitism has moved from the fringe of the Democratic Party to the mainstream.

With this promotion, Uriel has reached the same rank his forefather had achieved in his lifetime, over a century after he was wrongfully convicted of treason and used as an antisemitic scapegoat. 

The decision, issued by Justices Ofer Grosskopf, Alex Stein, and Gila Canfy-Steinitz, followed a hearing on Levin’s continued refusal to fully convene the committee.

The filing, submitted on behalf of the legal advisory system and the Courts Administration, comes ahead of a hearing scheduled for Sunday on Levin’s refusal to convene the committee.
