Commentator Toru Tamagawa, appearing on Friday’s broadcast of TV Asahi’s Hatori Shinichi Morning Show, questioned whether the special envoy’s Jewish background should have disqualified him.

The waiver, which the Treasury Department issued on March 20, allowed some 140 million barrels of oil to reach global markets and helped relieve pressure on energy supply during the war with Iran.

"We are more inclined to go there," Trump told The New York Post, after reports surfaced of a new round of negotiations between the two countries.

A source involved in the talks said the parties came "very close" to an agreement and were "80% there" before running into decisions that could not be settled on the spot. 

"Although we are in the most difficult circumstances of calamity and loss, it is surprising that we are at the peak of honor and greatness for the Islamic Revolution," said one Iranian official.

The militia forces could bolster the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran. They could also be used by Iran to enforce order and carry out suppression in some areas on its periphery.

The report noted that the damage to the tower was caused by shrapnel striking the facility, and that the authorities were working to restore power in the affected areas.

According to the report, any operation would not involve a full-scale invasion. US President Trump had not yet approved the plans due to the high risk they pose to American soldiers.

According to The Washington Post, the mines used were American BLU-91/B anti-tank land mines, which are deployed by aircraft using the Gator mine scattering system.
