Bild leak affair

Judge Michael Karshen accepted the police appeal against a lower court decision that had largely lifted the conditions imposed on Braverman, who is under investigation.

The case is part of the so-called “midnight meeting” affair, tied to the broader probe into the leak of classified documents to the German newspaper Bild.

The Monday decision revealed that Tzachi Braverman made use of sensitive information obtained through his official role in connection with the investigation into leaked classified materials.

In a short decision issued on Tuesday, Judge Ami Kobo ordered that the enforcement of the magistrate’s ruling be stayed until at least February 1.

The ruling relates to two investigations in which Urich is a suspect: the Bild document leak affair and a separate probe linked to a late-night meeting at the Kirya military headquarters.

Senior Judge Yaakov Spasser ruled that Urich will remain barred from working at the Prime Minister’s Office for an additional 60 days.

The appeal was heard a day after the district court reversed an earlier decision by Magistrate’s Court President Judge Menachem Mizrahi and reinstated restrictive conditions on Tzachi Braverman.

Lod District Court Judge Yaakov Spasser ruled that there is reasonable suspicion justifying the imposition of restrictions on Tzachi Braverman.

The case concerns classified military documents leaked in September 2024 to the German tabloid Bild, which reportedly outlined Hamas’s position on hostage negotiations.

Police argued that the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court erred when it canceled restrictions, including restrictions on Urich’s employment and broad no-contact orders.
