Numerous accounts have been removed from social media sites for attempting to manipulate and interfere with the upcoming Israeli elections, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) announced on Thursday.

According to Shin Bet, multiple accounts were found engaging in activities that could allow foreign influence on the election process.

The offending accounts were deleted, and Shin Bet said it would continue to work to preserve the purity of the elections and democratic process.

Netanyahu warns about potential election interference from Iran

In a Wednesday interview with The Jerusalem Post, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Iran and its regional proxies have been considering ways to influence the upcoming election.

“If they do, it’ll be a big mistake for them because we’ll respond with force and might they can’t even imagine,” he warned.

The prime minister also framed the election as a strategic contest, naming Iranian leaders, Hamas, Hezbollah, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas among those he said wanted him defeated.
