MK Tally Gotliv will be given the second place on Otzma Yehudit's list for the upcoming Knesset elections, party leader and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced at a press conference on Friday.
Initially, she was given third place on the list, but was raised to second after Yitzhak Wasserlauf volunteered to drop down one place.
Notably, given the way that the electoral threshold works in Israel's Knesset elections, placing within the top four seats is a technicality, as the minimum number of seats a party list can be granted is four after passing the 3.25% electoral threshold.
"They wanted to silence Tally and shut her mouth," Ben-Gvir said at the conference. "It was not pleasant for Gali Baharv-Miara and other factors, that Tally would act. She fought like a lioness in the plenum. I am proud that she is with us. You can agree with her, you can disagree with her, but everyone knows that when Tally Gotliv says something, it is clear that she speaks her truth, exactly what she thinks, without fear, without getting confused, stands for the truth without fearing anyone."
Gotliv said that the people were "thirsty" for Otzma Yehudit.
"Otzma managed to do the impossible and I watched it from the sidelines. Ben-Gvir doesn't want weak people around him, he wants strong people. There is a brotherhood and unity in the party that is not seen in other parties that see a sense of competition and difficulty in encouraging."
She added that she joined Otzma Yehudit in order to preserve the right-wing bloc and ensure that a right-wing government is elected.
Ben-Gvir hints at inclusion of MK May Golan in Otzma Yehudit list
Gotliv has not officially resigned from the Knesset or the Likud party, and thus is able to continue serving and maintain political immunity from prosecution until the slated elections are held.
During the press conference, when asked about the possibility of adding MK May Golan to his list, after she secured an unrealistic position in the Likud primaries, Ben-Gvir responded, “She is a good friend of mine, wait patiently.”
