A man who returned to Israel from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been placed in isolation at Soroka Medical Center, Beersheba, while being tested for Ebola after reporting a fever, the Health Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The ministry emphasized that this is only a suspected case, and tests are ongoing. Results are expected within 24 hours.
Additionally, the ministry is conducting an epidemiological investigation and is monitoring all developments worldwide.
In recent months, since the Ebola outbreaks in the DRC and Uganda were declared, the ministry has also conducted system-wide preparedness assessments to ensure that Israel's healthcare system is prepared for any possible scenario.
Ministry discourages travel to DRC, Uganda, urges caution for returning travelers
The ministry urges the public to avoid travel to areas where there may be Ebola transmission, primarily the DRC and Uganda.
Travelers who have returned from the countries and develop a fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days of their return are asked to remain at home, avoid contact with others, and contact the ministry's hotline at *5400.
