The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has identified Israel as one of its key tourism markets and is exploring the expansion of direct flight connections from Israel to additional destinations across the kingdom. During a strategic meeting between TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Israeli Ambassador to Thailand Dr. Alona Fisher-Kamm, the two sides agreed to advance several initiatives designed to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.
Among the measures discussed was the promotion of new direct flights from Israel to additional destinations in Thailand destinations in Thailand, beyond the existing El Al and Arkia services to Bangkok and Phuket. The two sides also plan to launch joint marketing campaigns promoting Thailand as a sustainable travel destination, while hosting Israeli journalists and travel agents to showcase attractions and events across the country.
181,872 Israelis Visited Thailand This Year
Updated tourism data presented during the meeting showed that 181,872 Israelis have visited Thailand since the beginning of the year. The Tourism Authority estimates that Israeli arrivals will reach approximately 442,000 by the end of 2026, surpassing last year's total despite disruptions to air travel caused during the war.
The figures also highlight the importance of the Israeli market for Thailand. Israeli visitors stay for an average of 19 days, while average spending per trip reaches approximately 99,350 baht (around NIS 9,000). In addition, 93% of Israeli travelers explore the country independently rather than as part of organized tour groups.
Israeli Ambassador to Thailand Dr. Alona Fisher-Kamm said: "Israeli tourists in Thailand are a cornerstone of the relationship between our two countries. They serve as a bridge between cultures and peoples, and their continued return year after year reflects both their satisfaction with Thailand, the sense of security they experience, and the warm and friendly hospitality they receive."
Imri Kalmann, the Tourism Authority of Thailand's representative in Israel and CEO of Terranova, added: "This strategic meeting underscores the importance Thailand places on the Israeli market. Israel is one of Thailand's highest-quality tourism markets, thanks to its visitors' long stays, high spending, and exceptional loyalty to the destination. We will continue working to introduce Israeli travelers to new regions and further strengthen the ties between our two countries."
