President Isaac Herzog visited US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee at the US Embassy in Jerusalem in honor of the United States marking its 250th Independence Day.

The surprise visit was announced by Herzog in a post on X/Twitter, accompanied by a congratulatory message to US President Donald Trump and the American people.

In his own post, Huckabee called Herzog’s visit to hand-deliver a letter meant for Trump a “special moment.”

In his letter to Trump, Herzog thanked the American president for his "steadfast commitment to Israel's security. May you continue to lead the Middle East and the world toward peace and security."

“I’m extremely moved and happy to be here at the American embassy in Jerusalem, to congratulate the president, Congress, the leadership, and the people of the United States of America,” Herzog said in the video shared to X.

“I brought a special message of goodwill from me and the people of Israel to the president of the United States of America.”

America’s 250th birthday celebration is a moment to “honor the incredible triumph of the American spirit,” Herzog noted, adding that it is time for Israel to express its deepest appreciation for the “unique and unbreakable partnership” between the two nations.

"Our two nations draw from the same wellsprings of the Bible, and we share the same fundamental values of freedom, democracy, and human dignity," he said. "American Independence is one of the greatest moments in history, and it has changed the fate of humanity."

“Thank you, mazal tov, congratulations America.”
