Police responded to an incident near the Tomb of the Kings in Jerusalem, where approximately 100 people attempted to enter a private compound and cross its boundaries, Israel Police reported on Sunday night.
One person was arrested, and three officers were lightly injured. Authorities used crowd-control measures to disperse the group and restore public order, the report stated.
Resting place of Queen Helena of Adiabene
The site, known locally as the Tombs of the Kings, is the burial place of Queen Helena of Adiabene and her sons.
Located at the junction of Nablus Road and Salah Ad-Din Street, the site had been under the care of the French government.
French authorities opened it up to the public in 2019.
The burial site has long been recognized by local Jewish residents as historically significant and was traditionally thought to be the resting place of figures from the Talmud.
Hagay Hacohen contributed to this report.
