A North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) F-16 fighter jet was scrambled on Saturday after a civilian aircraft flew into restricted airspace near Camp David, while US President Donald Trump was at the location.
The fighter jet intercepted the civilian aircraft and safely escorted it out of the area.
No injuries or damage were reported, and there was no indication that Trump was under threat.
At this time, there is no connection between the incident and Trump’s decision to return to the White House earlier than planned.
Trump cut his visit to Camp David short by one day, after he had originally been scheduled to remain there for the entire weekend. The White House did not provide an explanation as to the change in the president's plans.
Trump faces 'big decision' on Iran military action
On Thursday, Trump told Axios that he faces a "big decision" on whether to significantly escalate military action against Iran.
"I have a big decision coming up," he said. "Do I want to go in and annihilate them, or do I not? It's a big decision. Anything could happen with me."
Trump also discussed his upcoming meeting with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman on Tuesday, saying he wants to "find out where they are and how they are doing."
