British anti-Israel organizations launched a petition and campaign to investigate IDF veterans with UK citizenship and screen them at the border, according to the Declassified UK website.
As of Monday evening, just over 13,000 people signed a petition by Declassified UK and the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) calling on Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper to crack down on IDF veterans.
The anti-Israel groups demanded that the UK implement a disclosure requirement for IDF service, that Israelis or those traveling from Israel be subject to screening for war crimes, and to conduct investigations and prosecutions of veterans and service members.
“Nobody wants to live next to a potential war criminal – not least members of the Palestinian community in the UK who have family or friends who have been subjected to war crimes,” read the petition.
Campaign claims dual-national veterans responsible for gaza genocide
In Instagram advertisements for the campaign, a representative of the organization claimed that the dual-national veterans may have been responsible for a supposed genocide that ostensibly saw bodies being “literally vaporized.”
Declassified UK claimed that 2,000 UK-Israeli nationals served in the IDF.
On May 22, ICJP collaborated with the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, and Amnesty International Australia in a campaign calling for dual Australian national IDF veterans to be investigated for supposed war crimes.
