The level of cleanliness at an airport can significantly affect the overall flight experience, especially if you want to freshen up in the restrooms after a long flight, or spend many hours at the airport while waiting for a connecting flight.

The international air transport rating organization Skytrax published its annual World Airport Awards, based on passenger satisfaction surveys.

The survey results that examined the level of cleanliness were divided into two categories: One includes all airports worldwide, and the other refers to airports with up to 30 million passengers per year.

Not particularly surprisingly, the cleanest airport in the world is, once again, Tokyo Haneda International Airport (Haneda). Over the past decade, Haneda has consistently maintained first place, thanks to especially clean seating areas and facilities, advanced cleaning technologies, and efficient cleaning teams. In addition, Haneda is regularly ranked as one of the best airports in the world, and this year it reached third place in the overall ranking.

Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea, came in second place both in the cleanliness category and in the overall ranking this year, while Changi in Singapore ranked third in cleanliness, but maintained first place as the best airport in the world for the second consecutive year and the 15th overall.

Also in the category of smaller airports, Japan led the top three places: New Chitose in Hokkaido in first place, followed by Chubu Centrair Nagoya in Ise Bay, and Fukuoka Airport on the island of Kyushu.
