Israeli food-tech company Beyond Oil signed an agreement with Connecticut fast-food chain Duchess Restaurants to introduce its frying-oil treatment technology across the chain's 11 locations, the company announced.
The agreement, announced on October 19, followed a pilot program launched in 2025 in Duchess kitchens. Beyond Oil said the chain would incorporate the technology into its standard frying procedures.
Duchess, founded in 1956, is a privately owned restaurant chain based in Milford, Connecticut.
Frying-oil treatment aims to cut consumption and waste
Beyond Oil's technology uses a powder to treat used frying oil. The company says the product works with kitchen filtration equipment to remove compounds formed as the oil breaks down, helping extend its usable life and reduce oil consumption and waste.
“Quality and freshness have defined Duchess since 1956, and our guests expect that in every visit,” said Gary Lavin, president of Duchess Restaurants.
Lavin said the chain expected the partnership to improve food quality and reduce oil consumption and waste. He said Duchess tested the technology in its own kitchens before deciding to adopt it.
“These relationships take time to build,” said Jonathan Or, CEO of Beyond Oil. He said the company's work with restaurant operators involved establishing trust and demonstrating that the product performed consistently in their kitchens.
Financial terms of the Duchess agreement were not disclosed in the announcement.
Separate deal targets US buffet chain
The Duchess agreement followed an October 15 announcement that an unnamed US buffet restaurant chain with more than 200 locations intended to adopt Beyond Oil's technology across its company-owned and franchised restaurants.
That agreement followed a pilot at five locations. The first phase of the planned rollout was expected to cover 18 restaurants, with the companies working toward expansion across the wider network, Beyond Oil said.
Beyond Oil is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker BOIL and trades on the US OTCQB market under BEOLF.
